Eat to LIVE!!

Those of you that know me know that i am a big HEATH NUT!! I love eating healthy and working out. i feel so much better about myself and i have so much more energy. I used to try hard to eat the way i thought was healthy but was never sure that it was the right way to eat. people think Im crazy to never crave junk food. i LOVE fruit and Veggies so much!! i cant wait to have a garden. Anyways, my brother, Spencer, got me this book called "Eat to live" and i have been doing the diet ever since! i basically eat beans, nuts, vegetables, fruit and lots of water. I stay away from anything with preservatives, gluten, dairy (Im lactose intolerant anyways), bread=the devil, and any unnatural sugars. i eat things in their most natural untouched state! i feel AMAZING!! it is the best way to live and everyone should be living this way. our society is messed up these days! we have come up with so many "filler foods"!! these are foods that were made to fill us up and are very low in nutrients. i have always been super into counting calories and watching what goes in my body. but when i stick to this diet i can eat as much of this as i want. i never feel bloated, swollen, or have "i feel fat days" since i started the diet. I did have two mess up days and i was sick to my stomach and it took awhile for my body to get back on track. in the book is says that everything you eat becomes part of you. it said that they could dissect your leg and tell what you ate!!!!! YUCKKK!! I DONT want to be made of chips, greasy foods and junk.i know that man people can eat this way and feel great. that is totally fine with me. i dont judge and sometimes i wish that i could be that way, but i just dont feel great when i do. i have chosen this lifestyle and i hope it helps me live a healthy and long life! my brother Spencer has converted me and has some awesome recipes and things to make. Whenever i have a sweet tooth, i crave fruit now! gotta love natural sugar. some of you might get annoyed by my post but i needed to post this. im usually pretty secretive about it. whenever we go places and they offer food i never say i am lactose intolerant or tell them i dont eat certain foods. I dont want them to think i am wierd for eating the way i do. i also dont want to sound snobbish or rude. i just keep my diet to myself and if someone offers me a meal that i wouldnt normally eat then i just have a little bit. i feel like its time i embrace my differences. i LOVE eating only healthy foods. i do like an occational treat, but i feel better when i stick to the Eat to live. i hope to always live by this book. Moderation in all things for sure!! i dont want to go crazy on it but i will do my best to live it and love it!  i just love this diet and book! READ IT!!

  1. I think it's fantastic that you live this way!! That is my goal is to gradually convert myself to that kind of lifestyle. I have eaten so horribly for so long that it is a gradual transition for me. You are setting a great example for people! Never be afraid to spread the word about something you're passionate about! I admire that!! And, I'm sure you'll inspire many people! Good for you!

  2. you go girl! i think that is awesome. i definitely consider myself a health nut too- but i still eat too much refined flour & sugar (mckay loooooves desserts & pasta). do you do whole wheat pasta or skip that all together? and how is shane with the whole thing? mckay would flip if i cut meat our of out diet. i try to do a lot of brown rice and quinoa, thank goodness he's open to try anything and hasn't given me too much trouble over my "healthy" food. i'm super curious to know more. maybe i'll get the book.
    big questions though-
    1. do you eat any meat?
    2. are you ever hungry?
    3. do you cook seperately for shane?
    4. do you ever eat dessertS?
    love ya!

    1. Shane doesnt mind that i live this way. he is glad i feel good and am happy about it. he sometimes gets a little annoyed when i dont want to go out to eat certain places. shane eats pretty healthy. i definitly make him tacos, meat on the bbq, and things i dont eat but i just make things he likes and save leftovers for him. i eat occasional chicken or turkey and occational eggs. i love fish every once in awhile too. not too much tho. i try to get my protein from nuts and beans. and yes i got pretty hungry at first when i did it but i just had to get used to having a snack of some sort every two to three hours, whether it be oatmeal, nuts, fruits, veggies. those foods are so great for you but dont fill you up for very long cuz your body break it all down and uses it quicker. but that is how your body should run. i do have an occasional frozen yogurt run with shane or some dessert of we are with a group and it seems awkward for me to not eat any. i hate the attention being on me if i am not eating it. i love living this way and i kinda ate this way when we dated so he knew a bit of what he was getting into with me as a healthnut. :) but mornings i have oatmeal or eggs, lunch i have nuts, beans, fruits veggies (just quick things for work) then my dinners are usually brown rice with some sort of protein and veggies. i am just learning the best ways to do this all but its been fun :) please share any good recipes that you have and ill be posting a few good ones that i have found ymmy too :)

    2. I actually do have one that I think you and Shane would love (McKay thinks its awesome) and its so simple it's a crime. I cook organic quinoa (do you use quinoa? It's amazing, and so easy, I get mine at Trader Joe's) in my rice cooker and while that is going in my frying pan I sauté a big mix of veggies- I usually do bell peppers, frozen corn, onions, garlic, tomatoes, fresh herbs if I have them, zucchini, basically whatever I have. Last I add a can of beans, black are my favorite. Mix it all up, dish the quinoa into a bowl and pile the veggies on top. I don't know if you try to eat mostly raw, in which case this isn't up your alley. But we LOVE it! I top it with fresh avocado if I have it and sometimes egg to give Mckay more protein. It's a favorite. Try it and let me know how you feel about. XO

    4. Eat to Live tells you to eat a pound of raw vegetables daily and a pound of cooked vegetables daily.
I originally went completely raw but found I was missing some key nutrients and couldn't make some killer recipes that called for cooking.
